A class is composed of one or more cars.
Factory manufactured car classes are:
• 1500 Roadster (May be subdivided by wire wheels or non-wire wheels)
• 1600 Roadster (May be subdivided by wire wheels or non-wire wheels)
• 1600 Mk II Roadster
• Twin Cam Coupe and Roadster
• Deluxe Coupe and Roadster
• MGA Coupe
• Magnette (ZA, Mk III, Mk IV/Farina)
The Variant car class is defined as an Elva Courier, TVR or any vehicle with either an MGA chassis or originally powered by an MGA engine. To be eligible for placement in any of the above Factory manufactured classes, the car must retain its original engine or have been fitted with a replacement B series engine. Additional NAMGAR car classes are:
Altered A: This car class consists of vehicles from any factory manufactured class that no longer retain their original engine, nor a replacement B series engine, resulting in the car not falling into its factory manufactured car class. No vehicle in the Altered A car class will progress to the Premier Class.
Premier: This car class consists of vehicles in any factory manufactured car class (as listed above except for Altered A) which wins in class in the car show at a National GT. Upon winning its class, the vehicle must then compete in the Premier Class for five years. If it wins the Premier Class within the five-year period, it shall be shown in the Display Only Class for the balance of the five-year period. At the end of the five-year period, the car may remain in Display Only or return to its factory manufactured car class at the next National GT car show. If the vehicle places first in its class a second time, it would then be eligible to compete for a second Premier award.
Premier Emeritus: This car class consists of Premier cars as outlined above as well as any car so designated by the NAMGAR Chairman or Vice Chairman. There is no pewter awarded to this class; it is not a voted class.
MGB & MGC: We welcome all MGs to our show. MGB & MGC are usually the most prevalent and NAMGAR is proud to offer a devoted class to the successor of the MGA. Even though this is a voted class and the winner receives a pewter award, no vehicle in the MGB & MGC class will progress to the Premier Class.
Other British: All types of British are eligible to participate in the NAMGAR GT Show when properly registered. This car class will consist of any British-manufactured car not identified above. Even though this is a voted class and the winner receives a pewter award, no vehicle in the Other British car class will progress to the Premier Class. This class is offered during the GT at the discretion of the Host Committee and is not required.
To show a car at a National GT (except for all MG events), the owner must be a Regular Member of NAMGAR. Cars are placed in their most rare car class. For example, a Twin Cam Coupe would be shown in the Twin Cam Car Class, not the Coupe Car Class. Only winning cars in the factory manufactured car classes are eligible to progress to Premier Class. The final decision as to which car class any vehicle is shown rests with the NAMGAR Chairman or Vice Chairman.
The North American MGA Register welcomes anyone interested in attending our annual Get-Together. Registration is required to attend any GT specific activities. There is no fee or registration required to view the cars in the show on Saturday June 16th at the Virginia Crossings Hotel.
